Robin Oates was raised in Idyllwild and has been in real estate since 1977. He has been a Broker since 1981. His current business, Robin Oates Real Estate, was established in its present location in the "fort" in downtown Idyllwild, in 1998. Robin's family has a long history in Idyllwild. His grandfather built a home in Fern Valley in 1926. Robin's parents met in Idyllwild in the 1940's. Robin's wife Sarah, also grew up in Idyllwild, and they raised their two children here. Robin enjoys helping clients find the right property that will make their Idyllwild experience special.

What a privelege to call Idyllwild home for the past 33 years! My husband and I moved to Idyllwild in 1973. I taught elementary school while Jim worked as a school psychologist for the Hemet Unified School District. After 15 years of teaching, I was encouraged by a dear real estate agent friend to complete the course work to obtain my real estate broker license - the fun and adventuresome journey began in the summer of 1989! Rewarding, ever challenging, always changing, I have loved the unending opportunities to serve others in the processes of buying and selling homes, land, and businesses. Originally From Chicago, we moved to San Diego in 1985. Prior to the move West, I worked as a manufacturing engineer with Illinois Tool Works. In 1986 I started selling Real Estate with Century 21, then a short time later went with Re/Max where I remained until my move to Idyllwild in 1996. In addition to residential sales, I specialized in relocation and investment real estate while in the city. With over twenty years in the business, I am proud of my accomplishments. It is my pleasure to share my letters of recommendation from over the years.

My wife Kate (of over 30 years) is a certified personal trainer and teaches yoga. Kate previously worked at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla in cardiovascular research. We are camping, cooking, and hiking enthusiasts. I enjoy playing the guitar. Our dog is spoiled rotten, and we love this mountain.

We are both active in community affairs. I am currently on the board of the Idyllwild Community Recreation Council, participate in events at Idyllwild Arts Academy, and served many years as a Chamber of Commerce director. Kate is currently on the board of the Idyllwild Art Alliance, and is one of the organizers of the Idyllwild 5 and 10K Race benefiting the grade school physical education program.
